Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. Rom. 1:21-25
ASK YOURSELF -- BUT HEAR GOD ANSWER
Q. Does God ever change; or can God ever change?
A. For I am the LORD, I change not. Mal. 3:6; with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17; Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. Heb. 13:8; Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever thou hadst formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God. Ps. 90:2; But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children. Ps. 103:17.
Q. If God cannot change, can His word ever change?
A. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:1. Enough said!
Since it is abundantly clear that neither God, nor His word, can change, let us ask some questions relative to today’s religious teachings and/or practices.
Q. What does the word teach regarding friendship with this world?
A. Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4; Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. 1.John 2:15-16.
Q. What does the word teach regarding the friendship of this world?
A. Marvel not, my brethren, if the world hate you. 1.John 3:13; If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. John 15:18-19
Q. What does the word teach regarding fellowship with apostate religion?
A. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty. 2.Corin. 6:17-18; And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. Rev.18:4; Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us. 1.John 2:18-19; Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them. For they that are such serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; and by good words and fair speeches deceive the hearts of the simple. Rom.16:17-18; Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample. (For many walk, of whom I have told you often, and now tell you even weeping, that they are the enemies of the cross of Christ: Whose end is destruction, whose God is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame, who mind earthly things.) Phil.3:17-19.
Q. What does the word teach concerning prosperity in this present world?
A. And having food and raiment let us be therewith content. But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. 1.Tim.6:8-10; Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy; That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate; Laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on eternal life. 1.Tim.6:17-19; Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Eph.4:28; But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. 1.John 3:17-18; But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Mat.6:33.
Q. What does the word teach concerning holiness?
A. Speak unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, and say unto them, Ye shall be holy: for I the LORD your God am holy. Lev.19:2; But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 1.Pet.1:15-16; Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Gal.5:19-25; For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? 1.Pet.4:17-18 Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 1.Corin.7:1.
Q. What does the word teach concerning conditions accompanying Jesus return?
A. And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Mat.24:4-5; And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Mat.24:11; For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Mat.24:24; For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. 1.Tim.4:3-4; For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. Jude v.4; Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. 2.Thes.2:9-12; This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy; Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good; Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away; For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts; Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all men, as theirs also was. But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience, Persecutions, afflictions, which came unto me at Antioch, at Iconium, at Lystra; what persecutions I endured: but out of them all the Lord delivered me. Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. 2.Tim.3:1-13.
Notwithstanding the multitude of scriptures that could be added, merely by comparing the few scriptures given above to the teachings and practices of the vast majority of modern professing Christianity, it is apparent that they have no concept at all of true Biblical Christianity; and if the teachings and practices of the true people of God as revealed in the vast pages of Church History are further compared to those of the average “Christian” of today, it becomes even more apparent!
I know, though, that the true church of God can never go out of existence (--upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Mat.16:18b); and in every age -- no matter how apostized -- God has had His few (God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel, saying Lord, they have killed thy prophets, and digged down thine altars; and I am left alone, and they seek my life But what saith the answer of God unto him? I have reserved to myself seven thousand men, who have not bowed the knee to the image of Baal Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. Rom.11:2-5). Even so in these present times I know there must be a few scattered among apostate Christianity who are pure of heart, and are jealous for the glory and honor of God‘s great work of redemption through the sacrifice of Jesus; and are grieved in spirit to see His blood trampled -- as it were -- under the feet of men!
If, in your present situation, you find your soul like that of David in Ps. 63:1, (A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is.), then our invitation to you is to come, and see if the fellowship you find with us will not satisfy your longings! We are presently a few; meeting in a house in the Decker Woods subdivision; who long for fellowship with more saints who “--love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself”; and who rejoice to labor sacrificially in the Kingdom of God.
